Exeter College Apprentice Invited to Royal Wedding

Exeter College is delighted to announce that Engineering Apprentice, Tobias Cowan, from Sampford Peverell, has been invited to attend the Royal Wedding this weekend.

Tobias is a Level 3 Apprentice with Hepco Motion at its Tiverton-based engineering centre.

Julie Skinner, Exeter College Vice Principal for Standards and Student Experience, said: “We are delighted that Tobias has been chosen to attend the Royal Wedding. It is a huge honour for one of or students to be granted this opportunity and one I'm sure he will never forget.

“Tobias is well known in the college, having won a variety of awards during his time with us. Tobias is an excellent student and we are sure he will go on to have an exceptional future.”

Tobias, along with 1,200 members of the public will be able to watch the wedding from within the grounds of Windsor Castle. These specially selected guests will watch the arrival of the bride and groom and the carriage procession as they leave after the marriage service.

Tobias said he was stunned when he received the invitation. He said: “I really was not expecting it – but then again, would anybody? I am really excited for the weekend. It should be a really fun event and an unforgettable opportunity.

“I think the best bit will be the procession after the wedding. That will be really cool!”

Apprentice Training Manager Maurice Porter, at Hepco Motion, said: “Toby is passionate about promoting apprenticeships to allow others to benefit from the opportunities he knows apprenticeships can bring.

“We are very honoured that he has been rewarded for his efforts.”
