Bindu's academic background is in Economics with a special interest in Development Economics, with a BA (Hons) in Economics and an MSc in Development Economics.
Completing a PGCE at London University, Bindu's career began in Further Education, working at City of Westminster College for 2 years as a Co-ordinating Lecturer in Economics and Business Studies, teaching on a range of vocational and academic programmes and professional qualifications.
Bindu currently works as a Director at Exeter City Council responsible for Inclusive Growth and Customer Access Strategy as well as a portfolio of service responsibilities, having been in Local Government leadership for 14 years in a variety of areas including Business Transformation, Customer Access, ICT, Human Resources, Corporate Planning, Strategic Partnerships, Crime Reduction and Community Involvement, Housing Needs and Revenues and Benefits.
With an Institute of Leadership & Management Level 7 Award in Executive Coaching and Mentoring, Bindu has worked with colleagues in public services as well as the private sector to add support in realizing their leadership aspirations.
Bindu is currently Chair of the Governing Body of St Peter's Church of England High School. As part of the Board of Governors for Exeter College, Bindu serves on both the Business Services and Quality & Standards Committees. Bindu lives in Exeter with her husband and their son who attends Exeter Mathematics School and Exeter College and they enjoy travelling within Devon and farther afield.
