Foundation Studies

Our fantastic Foundation Studies faculty runs specialist programmes, not just in college but also with year 10 and year 11 students in our local schools and within the community.

We pride ourselves on our excellent support and a range of programmes from Entry Level to Level 2 allowing us to cater for all learners' needs.

We help build your confidence, self esteem, social skills, and functional skills and help you achieve qualifications suitable for your ability. We ensure all students participate fully and equally and make necessary reasonable adjustments to allow you to reach your true potential and gain the most from your experience here at Exeter College. We are really proud of how our students progress either within the college or onto other local colleges, apprenticeships or employment.

You will have full support in and out of the classroom with at least one support worker present at all times and there is always someone available for support in between lessons, for example, lunchtimes and break times.

The purpose built Ted Wragg building has bright, spacious classrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, IT suite, furnished flat to train independent living and easy access to the building and all floors. We have a Work Inspiration team to help you on your path to employment.

What our students are saying

Having left school with few GCSEs I was struggling to find employment and was losing the motivation to look for it so I joined the Prince’s Trust programme to help me find work which it did. The course helped me improve my team building skills, my communication, my reliability and above all my employability.

Robbie, Prince’s Trust student

I have enjoyed making friends and being treated like the person I am and not like a child. Fast Track has been really life changing for me; the staff make lessons challenging and fun at the same time and I have made some really good friends. I am much more confident and positive about the future.

Thomas, GCSE Fast Track

What I enjoyed most about studying in Foundation Studies at Exeter College was the chance to develop my confidence and meet new people.

Kasha, Fast Track

I chose this course because I wanted to work with young people. The most exciting trip this term was going to court and understand the law and why people are there. I have great tutor support. My achievements have been passing Level 1 English and maths.

Tom, Level 1 Health and Social Care
