Enterprise Academy

Interested in setting up and running your own small business?

The Enterprise Academy is a one year practical course which involves business mentors, trips and guest speakers and will channel your entrepreneurial and creative skills and develop them into a realistic business enterprise!

Choosing the Enterprise Academy will give you the real life skills needed to develop a small business with local entrepreneurs supporting you at every stage!

  • What will I study?

    This course will specifically equip you with the skills and knowledge to start up and run your own business after completion. Subjects studied include:

    • Market Research
    • Producing a Business plan
    • Launching your Business
    • Financial Planning
    • Planning the Future Strategy
    • E-Marketing
  • Experiences and trips

    The Academy has links with local entrepreneurs and small businesses, who provide guidance and support throughout the programme through industry networking, conferencing, residential business trips, project work in the community, guest speakers and real life trading.

    Recently the Enterprise Academy has:

    • Pitched ideas at the 4Entrepreneurs conference in London
    • Had a masterclass from Wesley Woltman of W2estates who spoke about emarketing and website design.
    • Learned about buying and selling skills at local car boot sales.

    Lifestyle Hospitality Group

    The Lifestyle Hospitality Group Limited (LHG) currently owns and operates 9 venues throughout the South West. From the traditional Gissons Hotel Restaurant & Carvery at Kennford, to some of the most lively restaurants and bars in Torquay, Exeter and Taunton.   • Who can apply?

    The Enterprise Academy is open to students who have already completed a Level 3 qualification and is under 19 at the start of the course. You must also meet the entry requirements and have at least 5 GCSEs at A*-C including English and Maths. It is vital that you can demonstrate creative skills and show you have a passion to own your own business at the interview.

    The Enterprise Academy can be combined with others in order to make a full programme of study.

    To apply for the Enterprise Academy you need to have already completed a Level 3 qualification at Exeter College. Download an application form .
