Life in Exeter
You won't want to leave...
The city of Exeter has been established for many centuries as a centre of scholarship
and learning, and continually plays host to visitors and students from all over
the world. Exeter has been described as the city offering the highest quality of
life in Britain, and forms the hub of a delightful and safe region in which to spend
time.
The city itself is in an extremely attractive location, being set on the River Exe
in beautiful Devon countryside, close to the sea. Exeter is unusual in being quite
small for a city, with approximately 118,000 inhabitants. However, as the capital
of Devon, it has all the facilities of a much larger city.
Exeter's attractions include
all the amenities associated with a university town; theatres, cinemas, the cathedral,
many other historic buildings, a wide range of internationally-famous shops, pleasant
traffic-free walks and an attractive riverside.
Night life
Socialising in Exeter is an exciting and cosmopolitan experience with a variety
of bars, pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafés to choose from, either on the historic
Quayside or in the town centre. There is such a large student population in Exeter
that there are special student nights and clubs running every night of the week
from live bands to comedy, dance nights to film clubs.
If you are looking for entertainment or just want to relax, Exeter will have something
to suit you. There is so much to do as well as study!
