As an international student you can choose from any of the courses available to study at Exeter College, ranging from A-Levels to Foundation Degree level. What do these levels mean?

  • School Holiday Experience

    Our school holiday experience offers students aged between 14 and 18 years old the opportunity to study English and to live in the beautiful South West of England.

    Students will live and learn in St John’s International School in Sidmouth and enjoy interactive activities and outdoor pursuits with the outstanding Exeter College. Students also have the chance to explore what Devon has to offer including Exeter’s historic Roman city with underground passages and stunning cathedral.

  • A Levels

    Most students choose 3-5 A-level subjects in the first year (AS Level) and then continue with 3 or 4 into the second year (A2 Level). There are exams and coursework throughout the course.

    • Half of our A Level students gained grades A*, A or B across a wide range of 36 subjects.
    • 67% of our students gain the very best A*, A, and B grades, with more than a fifth achieving the coveted A* grade.
    • Economics, Biology, History, English Language and English Literature all recorded 100% pass rates

    The way A Levels are examined are changing, students will no longer be examined after the first year of study of the two year A Level programme. All students will now be examined at the end of the two years of study.

  • International Baccalaureate

    As an alternative to A-levels, you may wish to consider studying the International Baccalaureate. The IB is an internationally recognised qualification made up of six subjects including English, Maths, Science, a modern foreign language and an Art and Humanities subject. You also get involved in community projects and write a research-based essay. The course is equivalent to studying a full A Level course and involves exams and coursework.     Last year Exeter College celebrated being top of the world again, with students achieving International Baccalaureate (IB) scores well above the world average. The 26 students completing their two-year diploma last year achieved average points of 33.6 out of a possible 45, against a world average of 29.8. Many students gained top marks in their subjects, with 21 top scores of grade 7.

  • International Foundation Diploma/ Access to Higher Education

    Our International Foundation Diploma is a one year course that will allow you to progress straight on to university. The course will help improve the study skills needed for study at university, as well as giving you a chance to improve your English Language and Maths skills level. Successful completion of this course will give you guaranteed progression on to the appropriate Higher Education course at Exeter College, where available.

    The Access to HE Diploma is a very rewarding course, however, it is also very demanding. Students are expected to be motivated to learn in and out of the classroom, to manage their study time, to meet deadlines and to take responsibility for their own learning.

  • Higher Education

    We have offered a wide range of university-level courses for many years with our partner institutions. Studying a higher education course at Exeter College gives you access to high-quality teaching and resources, small classes, flexible studying and a vibrant city location - for lower fees than many universities.   • English Language Courses

    In addition to your academic course, you will also take an English Language course which will focus on improving your listening, writing, reading and skills. To assist your progression into university, there will be also be a parallel IELTS training course aiming to improve individual IELTS scores and equip you with the skills needed to meet the demands of a degree course. This course will be taught by an experienced IELTS tutor.

  • Vocational Courses

    Our vocational courses offer you a chance to study an exciting mix of practical work and theory. These courses are entirely assessed by coursework and are ideal if you know which career area or study that you want to pursue in the future.
