How to Apply

Want to apply for a degree on your doorstep at Exeter College? Check out the simple guidelines on what to do next.

Applying for a FULL TIME higher education course at Exeter College

1. You need to apply through UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service for the UK) for all our full-time higher education courses (foundation degrees, HNDs or our BA). You cannot apply to Exeter College direct.

2. Applications are normally made between September 1st and January 15th but you can apply all through the year right up until your course starts and for some courses you can even start on the course late, up until mid October.

3. You make your application through Apply – a web-based, online application form from UCAS www.ucas.com/apply. Your school or college will help you with this. If you are not in school or college you can get on-screen help and advice from the website and you can look at the guide ‘Applying online’ which you can get from the UCAS website and as a booklet from Exeter College. Talk to us if you have any problems filling in your UCAS form or getting access to a computer.

4. The 'Apply' application form asks you to select up to six courses and you need to give the course title and the UCAS course codes – you’ll find this in the course factsheet information against each of our courses.

5. The application form has a section ‘Personal Statement’. This is your opportunity to convince our tutors that you are right for the course. You can include reasons for your course or subject choice; information about jobs or voluntary work you have done particularly if these relate to the course you’re interested in; your future plan, and interests and achievements which give us an idea about you as an individual.

6. Check that you have included all the information needed, including getting your referee to add a statement and send off your application form to UCAS with your application fee. UCAS makes an administration charge of £15 for all EUK/EU applications, although the charge is only £5 if you apply to only one course at one institution.

7. What happens next? You will receive an answer, via UCAS, about whether or not your application has been successful (in some cases you will be invited in for an interview beforehand). If successful, we will write to you again over the summer, with details about enrolment.
