Higher Education Entry Requirements

Our entry requirements reflect our philosophy of being a provider of accessible higher education programmes for those with the potential to succeed.

We welcome applications from people with appropriate qualifications, prior work experience or a demonstrable interest and talent in a subject. Students over 19 without the specified qualifications, but with relevant experience, are encouraged to apply.

Most course entry requirements are:

  • GCSE English and Maths at C or above PLUS
  • 160 UCAS tariff points (minimum) from AS, A2, BTEC, AVCE or GNVQ programmes, or subject specific diplomas or
  • appropriate NVQ at level 3
  • an access qualification or
  • qualifications deemed equivalent to the above

Please note: Many courses require specific additional requirements; these are detailed on the individual course pages. Entry requirements for the Access to HE courses and BA courses are very different to those above. Please use the course search facility to find out more.

The above UCAS points can be calculated by visiting www.ucas.com

In most cases students are required to have GCSE A* - C (or equivalent, such as Key Skills or Basic Skills Level 2 in English/Communication/Literacy).

If you do not have English or Mathematics GCSE at C or above, your course leader may waive this requirement. However, we recommend that you study for these qualifications in addition to your Foundation Degree/HND, as it may be a requirement for entry to a top-up Honours Degree.
