Access to Higher Education
Kick start your future!
If you want to kick-start your career by gaining a higher education qualification,
but you don’t have all the qualifications you need, then a one-year Access to Higher
Education course may well be your best choice.
Access to HE Diploma courses are a well established and successful route into higher
education, they can also improve your general education, or can help you to progress
onto professional training such as nursing, social work, teaching or computing.
The Access to HE Diploma is a very rewarding course, however, it is also very demanding.
Students are expected to be motivated to learn in and out of the classroom, to manage
their study time, to meet deadlines and to take responsibility for their own learning.
We are looking for applicants with:
- A high degree of motivation towards study
- A commitment to the course
- Sufficient levels of literacy and numeracy
- Evidence of recent study is desirable (we can help you gain this)
- Some idea of what higher education courses you wish to apply for.
Exeter College has been running the nationally recognised Access to Higher Education
programme since 1987. Since then, hundreds of students have successfully completed
the course and progressed on to further study and employment.
We take applications for 2012 from September 2011. The course is very popular and
there are limited places available. Please do not leave it until the summer to apply
as you may miss out on a place.

- An application form
- A letter of application explaining why you are applying for the course.
- A one-to-one interview with a course tutor
- An initial assessment of literacy and numeracy skills

also need to have:
- a high degree of motivation towards study
