Skills for Life - FREE courses for adults
- Do you feel that you didn’t reach your full potential whilst at school?
- Do you want to fill a gap in your CV?
- Are you looking to support your children’s learning?
- Would you like to gain more confidence using computers whilst brushing up your English or Maths?
We understand that it can be difficult to return to learning, especially if you found English and/or maths difficult at school. For this reason, our Skills
for Life classes are small with a maximum of 8 – 12 adults per group. Our teachers are supportive and encouraging, aiming to build confidence and help you achieve. We make sure that we work together to find out your individual learning needs. We also train volunteers who work in our classes to ensure that our students get all the support they need and feel positive about returning to learn.
Our Skills for Life courses lead to a national qualification in English or Maths at GCSE Level. The qualifications are multiple-choice (very similar to the driving theory test) You can practise them by visiting
www.move-on.org.uk
Skills for Life courses provide a foundation for all other studies you may wish to progress on to in the future. You can study these courses in college, in your workplace or in a community centre.
If you are interested in preparing for an Access course and do not have recent evidence of study including GCSE’s grade A- C then we would strongly recommend our 8 week Routefinder course.

We are offering a short intense pathway to these qualifications for the first time this year. This course entitled Skills for Working Life, is designed for those who are between jobs and need to add up-to-date English and Maths qualifications to their CV.
