How long is the course/training? This is a two-year, full-time course. You can also study this course part-time.

What will I be doing on the course/training?

This innovative course will teach you valuable practical skills in this rapidly growing sector. This course is delivered in partnership with Bicton College and is delivered on both sites.
Adventure travel is one of the fastest-growing sectors of tourism. This course teaches the practical skills, technical knowledge, planning, plus the operational and environmental considerations that professionals in adventure tourism need. You will experience a variety of outdoor pursuits and tourism management within the locality, working closely with our National Parks and coastal regions within the UK and internationally.
Employability, employer involvement and hands-on learning are integral to the course. You will benefit from the college’s employer links. The course includes tourism operations and management plus, outdoor leadership and expedition planning. This allows you to develop your understanding of the social and environmental issues specific to adventure travel.

What are the entry requirements?

You will need 160 UCAS tariff points (minimum) from AS, A2 or AVCE programmes, BTEC National Diploma/Certificate, GNVQ Advanced, an appropriate NVQ at level 3, an Access qualification or other qualifications deemed equivalent to the above.

What can I do after this course/training?

You could progress to the third year of the BA (Hons) Outdoor Studies at the University College of St Mark and St John, Plymouth or seek employment.

How do I study the course/training and how will I be assessed?

The course is delivered by lectures, seminars, workshops, group activities and research. Complementing these are site visits and guest speaker sessions.

What facilities are there?

You will have access to refectory facilities and learning resource centres at both Exeter College and Bicton College.

What will the course/training cost me?
