What will I be doing on the course/training?

The Access course has been designed for those adults who feel they missed out on higher education when they were younger. The programme aims to provide a firm foundation for study at degree or HND level courses but is also a useful programme of study in its own right. Study skills and educational guidance form essential parts of the course. The programme consists of compulsory core units and two subject options:

Core units: Preparation for Higher Education (including study skills), Information Technology, Maths, English.
Subject options: Biology, Chemistry.

The course content in each option starts at GCSE Level and includes the core content of an A Level in each subject. For some higher education programmes (teacher training for example) you will need to have O Level or GCSE passes or equivalent in Mathematics, English Language and a Science. These qualifications can be gained alongside the Access programme but there is an extra fee. If you need to achieve more than one qualification in addition to your Access course we can help you to plan this.

Start date: w/c 13th September 2010.
Course/Training Code: To be confirmed
