Beauty Therapy
Level: Level 3      Full-time 
How long is the course/training? This is a one-year course.

What will I be doing on the course/training?

This advanced course 'builds' on the basic skills of a Level 2 qualification. The skills included are in line with current industry requirements.

Mandatory Units:

  • Maintaining health and safety
  • Promoting products and services
  • Financial effectiveness of the business
  • Provide head and body massage
  • Indian head massage treatments
  • Provide massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils

Mandatory Optional Units: (2 electrical) face and body:

  • Improve body condition using electro-therapy
  • Improve face and skin condition using electro-therapy

Optional Qualification: Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Epilation OR Level 3 Diploma in Aromatherapy

Where do I study/train?

In our brand new facilities at our Hele Road Centre which is very welcoming and busy with professional Hairdressing Salons, Beauty Salons and Spa to support our full time and part time students.

What are the entry requirements?

You must have completed NVQ 2 Beauty Therapy or a level 2 in Holistic Therapies.

What can I do after this course/training?

You may seek employment as a Beauty Therapist in a clinic, health hydro department store or cruise liner.

What Functional skills will I do?

You will do Functional Skills in IT at level 2, Communication and Application of Number.

What residential/work experience is there?

A range of professional certificated workshops are included during the course which the student will be charged.

How do I study the course/training and how will I be assessed?

Theoretical background for the practical units plus anatomy and physiology and nutrition will be taught in specialised classes. Candidates need to develop a portfolio of evidence which should include several case studies and projects for all areas. You will be assessed practically, theoretically and orally in all areas. Testimonials may be required as evidence in some areas. Units will be externally tested and to gain a full certificate at Level 3 these must be passed. Assessment is on paying clients. Balance of course work 35% theoretical/ 65% practical.

Our well equipped beauty salons are Dermalogica clinics which offer a fantastic range of treatments.

Additional costs:

All students need a personal kit and uniform. The cost of your kit will depend on your choice of optional units. Students are responsible for providing their own working resources. To complete this course you will need to purchase an Epilation kit. Details of this and the text book will be sent to you in the post.
