Customer Service Apprenticeship
Level: Level 2      Part-time 
How long is the course/training? 24 months

What will I be doing on the course/training?

This Apprenticeship is designed to give you the knowledge and skills necessary to further your career in the customer service field. As an Apprentice you will hold a full-time job and attend college one morning a week. You will work towards a framework of qualifications which make up the Apprenticeship.

Part of the Apprenticeship framework is the NVQ qualification. The NVQ shows your competence, knowledge and understanding of customer service procedures and proves you are able to carry out your job to the NVQ standards. You will cover the following:

  • Give customers a positive impression of yourself and organisation
  • Deliver reliable customer service
  • Develop customer relationships
  • Resolve customer service problems

Technical Certificate: This is the theory and underpinning knowledge you require within your job. The qualification is called a City & Guilds level 2 NVQ in Customer Service.

You will also complete the Employment Rights and Responsibilities workbook to ensure you are aware of your legal status.

Victoria House

What are the entry requirements?

GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C or above would be an advantage. You need to be in a job within a customer service environment.

What can I do after this course/training?

You may progress on to the Advanced Apprenticeship in Customer Service.

What Functional skills will I do?

You will do Functional Skills in Application of Number and Communications.

What residential/work experience is there?

You must be in employment to do this course.

How do I study the course/training and how will I be assessed?

When on your college day-release, you will be supported by your Tutor or Training Officer. You will spend the remainder of the week in the workplace. Whilst at work, your Training Officer will visit you and carry out assessments.

What facilities are there?

You will have access to a learning resource centre. There is a refectory in Victoria House.

What will the course/training cost me?

Apprenticeships are fully funded if you are aged 16-18 on commencement of the programme. If you are aged 19-24 funding is limited and your employer will have to pay a contribution of £75 per month towards the training as well as paying your wage.
