Bindu's academic background is in Economics with a specialism in Development Economics, with a BA (Hons) in Economics and an MSc in Development Studies from South Bank University.
Completing a PGCE at London University, Bindu’s career began in Further Education, working at City of Westminster College for 2 years as a Co-ordinating Lecturer in Economics and Business Studies, teaching on a range of vocational and academic programmes and professional qualifications.
Bindu currently works as an Assistant Director at Exeter City Council having been in Local Government leadership for 14 years with a variety of responsibilities including Business Transformation, Customer Access, ICT, Human Resources, Corporate Planning, Strategic Partnerships, Crime Reduction and Community Involvement and recently management of Welfare Reform and partnership co-design and co-production.
Having developed experience in Coaching and Mentoring over the past few years, Bindu has completed the Institute of Leadership & Management Level 7 Award in Executive Coaching and Mentoring.
Bindu has previously been Chair of Governors of St Leonards Primary School and is currently Chair of the Governing Body of St Peter’s Church of England High School. As part of the Board of Governors for Exeter College, Bindu serves on both the Business Services and Quality & Standards Committees. Bindu lives in Exeter with her husband and their son and enjoys travelling within Devon and farther afield.
