    1. Complete a separate bursary application

  • How the scheme works

If you are offered a conditional place at Exeter College before 15 August* you will be assessed by Devon County Council (DCC) for eligibility on to their subsidised travel scheme, if you are refused on to the Devon County Council scheme (students are often refused if similar courses are run at their local Colleges / Sixth Forms) they will notify Exeter College. If you meet the criteria set above and have been refused on to the Devon County Council scheme you will be eligible to join the Exeter College subsidised travel scheme, which is set to mirror the Devon County Council offer.

If you fit the criteria above, you will be sent information on the travel scheme in June from either Devon County Council or Exeter College depending on which scheme you are eligible to join.

*If you apply to join the College after 15 August you will need to complete a Devon County Council transport application form – call 0845 155 1019 for more details.

If you are interested in the subsidised travel schemes, fit the criteria above and have not heard anything by the end of June please contact Exeter College direct on 01392 400319.

Please ensure you have your college ID on you when collecting your Travel Pass from the college Finance Counter.

  • What travel passes are available and how much do they cost?

Both Devon County Council and Exeter College operate using public transport. You will be supplied with either a bus pass or rail card for you to arrive at College before morning classes, and to return after classes in the afternoon (the College reserves the right to make the appropriate travel arrangements for you and will only issue you with a pass for one type of transport).

The contribution you pay towards the cost of a travel pass for 2016/17 is £560. If you choose to pay termly the total cost of the pass is £590 which includes a £30 admin fee for paying by instalments: Term 1 Autumn £200 (inc £10 admin fee), Term 2 Spring £200 (inc £10 admin fee) and Term 3 Summer £190 (inc £10 admin fee).

Exeter College also runs a dedicated private transport service for students travelling from Great Torrington and South Molton. Click here to download our handy leaflet with more information and travel times

  • Help towards the cost of travel

Bursary Fund can help you to pay for all (or towards) your travel pass. You will receive notification of which scheme you are on when you have been offered a place at college. Please indicate this on your bursary application.

    • If your household income is under £16,000
We will fund 100% of your travel pass or £500 of travel tickets (if within Exeter) If DCC are processing your pass, please send us your completed payment form and photo to allow us to approve bursary funding. If Exeter College are processing your pass, please log onto Wisepay to provide route information, a photo and then order your pass.
Please note: Bursary applications for students who are on the DCC Scheme but applying for 100% bursary (income under £16,000.00) will be asked to send the Pink/Purple DCC payment form, a Photo and their Bursary Application Form to the college. The college’s bursary team will then approve or decline the application and, if approved, will stamp the DCC form and send to DCC for them to process the pass. This is new for 2016/17.
    • If your household income is between £16-£23,000
We will fund 50% of your travel pass or £250 of travel tickets (if within Exeter) If DCC are processing your pass, please pay termly/monthly direct to DCC and we will reimburse 50%. If Exeter College are processing your pass, please log onto Wisepay to provide route information, a photo and then order your pass. You must pay the remaining 50% before you can order your pass.
