Elliot Frear

Elliot Frear was released from Exeter City as a 14 year old, but he never gave up his dream of becoming a professional footballer. After achieving the required GCSE entry criteria for the BTEC National Diploma in Performance and Excellence, he also gained a place in the Exeter College Football Development squad after various trials. Throughout his two years at the College he was a role model to other students and worked hard at both his studies and his football.

ECFC club kept a close eye on his progress during College training and games, inviting him to pre-season sessions, U18 and reserve team games. At the completion of his two years he achieved a Merit profile for his BTEC and was awarded a short term contact with the club. Since then his persistence and work ethic have been rewarded by Manager Paul Tisdale with an extension to his contract.

Meg Goddard

Meg completed a National Diploma in Sports Performance & Excellence in 2010 achieving a triple distinction. She was a member of the Women's Football Academy, captaining the team in her second year, won the BCS League in 2009 and came forth at the British Colleges National Championships 5a-side competition.

She is currently in her second year of a Soccer Scholarship at Cloud County Community College in America and when asked how she was getting on, she said: "Everything's going great still loving it all! Our seasons just finish, we got knocked out in the semi finials. We lost 1-0 and they scored in the last 2 minutes... it was a heartbreaker! Academics is going well too. I'm hoping that I will have good enough grades to get a good academic scholarship next year too."

In February 2012 Meg was awarded a scholarship for her degree for a further two years with Columbia Cougars!

Richard Bolt

Richard Bolt studied a First Diploma in Sport and was a member of the Exeter College Rugby Academy. On leaving Exeter College he joined Exeter Chiefs on a full time professional contract, he then signed with the Cornish Pirates, Bristol Shoguns and is now with Harlequins in the Aviva Premiership.

Tommy Wilkins

While at Exeter College Tommy studied a BTEC National Diploma in Sport (Performance & Excellence) and achieved a MPP profile. He was also a member of the Rugby Academy and played for the second team.

Jon Fabian who was his Academy coach and tutor said this about his time in the Academy. 'He was a very dedicated player who gave 100% and was always willing to put his body on the line. It is no surprise to me that he has excelled as a Royal Marine'.

Tommy joined the Marines as a new recruit straight from College and on passing out was awarded the King's Badge. This prestigious award is only given to the best all recruit in the King's Squad, provided that he is worthy of the honour. The badge is carried on the left shoulder and is worn in every rank. The King's Badge is not awarded to every squad, and is only presented if a Recruit measures up to the very exacting standards required.

The Royal Marines are famous the world over as the Royal Navy's soldiers at sea. Tough and resilient, a Commando is part of a special brotherhood serving globally 24 hours a day. From the Arctic to Afghanistan, Royals are making their mark.

Kate McGinley

While at the College Kate studied PE, Biology and Psychology A2 levels. During her time at college she was playing and captained the Exeter College netball 1st Team, as well as playing regional one league for Plymouth Marjon saints, Playing in the National Talent league (NTL) for Team Bath and also represented England U19s in the 2009 European Championships.

She was part of the Team Bath NTL team for 4 seasons and was in the England youth squads for 3 years. The grades that Kate achieved enabled her to get onto the Coach Education and Sports Development Degree at the University of Bath. Whilst studying for her degree, Kate is part of one of the few netball high performance centers in the country, that provides her with extra technical, gym and conditioning sessions, where they train up to 18 hours a week as well as playing 3 matches.

Kate is currently playing for the University of Bath first team, Team Bath toucans premier 1 Team and Team Bath Super League. It is Kate’s first season in the Super League squad which is a huge step up for her regarding training and matches but she is looking forward to being challenged and playing amongst the top netballers in the country.
