Sports Academy

  • Do you have the desire and motivation to study a full-time academic or vocational course whilst maintaining a focus on the sport you are gifted at?
  • Do you aspire to a future in sport?
  • Can you commit to a training and playing regime together with your studies?

    • Rugby - Monday 31st March, 6.30-8.30pm. Cullompton RFC (EX15 1PZ)
    • Basketball - Tuesday 22nd April (Open Session) 6.00-8.00pm. Exeter College Sports Hall (EX4 4JS)
    • Basketball - Tuesday 29th April (Trials) 6.00-8.00pm. Exeter College Sports Hall (EX4 4JS)
    • Cricket - Monday 28th April, 6.00-8.00pm. University of Exeter Cricket Centre (EX4 4QJ)
    • Netball - Wednesday 23rd April, 7.00-9.00pm. Riverside Leisure Centre (EX4 1AF)
    • Men's Football - Thursday 1st May, 6.30-8.30pm. Glasshouse Lane (EX2 7EH)
    • Men's Football - Thursday 15th May, 6.30-8.30pm. Cat and Fiddle (EX5 1DP)
    • Golf - Wednesday 7th May, 6.30pm-7.30pm. Exeter Golf and Country Club (EX2 7AE)
    • Womens' Football - Thursday 8th May. Exeter College Sports Hub (EX4 2BQ)
    • ACES - Monday 19th May. Vic House Campus (EX4 3SR room VH210)
    • MMA - Tuesday 20th May, 6.00-7.00pm. Vic House Campus (EX4 3SR room VH210)

  • What is the Sports Academy?

    The Sports Academy is designed to provide an opportunity for talented and gifted sports performers to focus on their chosen sport, in a supportive and specialist environment, whilst also gaining academic and vocational qualifications.

    The Academy benefits from excellent links and partnerships with local organisations including:

    • Exeter City FC
    • Cullompton RFC
    • Fitness First
    • Exeter Golf and Country Club
    • University of Exeter’s Tennis and Cricket Centre's

    The Sports Academy has produced sports performers and teams of the highest quality - many of which have gone on to study at university level or successful careers within sport. Former Sports Academy students include:

    • Richard Bolt Harlequins Rugby Union
    • Mica Evans England U20 Women’s Rugby
    • Simon Cooper Triathlon GB Olympic Talent Programme
    • Harry Snow Youth Class Supercross Championships
    • Harrison Greenberry – Golf England U18 & finished 8th in International U21 tournament
    • Eleanor Parker - Surf Life Saving Great Britain Squad
    • Sophie Hutchings – Rowing U18 GB Junior trials
  • What Academy options are available?

    Our current Sports Academy programmes are:

    • ACES (Advanced Conditioning for Elite Students) - This scheme creates a unique environment to help Elite sports performers gain specific conditioning for their respective sports

  • How do I join?

    • Complete the Sports Academy Player Information Form (download below) and submit it with your Exeter College Application Form. You will also be asked to supply references from your coach to support your application.

    • You will be invited to attend trials or meetings to discuss your individual sport. See below
    • You will be asked to make a contribution to the cost of the Sports Academy. See below.

    Individual Sports Academy costs:

    You will be asked to make a contribution to the cost of the Sports Academy. Prices exclude Sports Academy Kit, Second year students do not need to purchase new kit.
